The VSM recognizes that mental health is not a peripheral concern but an integral aspect of a healthy life as well as academic success and personal fulfillment. Mathematical research can be mentally exhausting and at times quite a test of emotional resilience and well-being.

However, in these circumstances, anybody may get to a point where things seem to be hard to handle and quick individual support is needed. Here we provide a list that contains information on possible contacts for such situations. The list contains both contacts at the Faculties or the Universities and offers independent of the Universities; some of them are intended for cases of emergency, others for longer term counseling. The current version of this list is available here.

The VSM organizes workshops on issues related to mental health. The next such workshop is currently being planned for fall 2025.

The students decided to focus on the imposter syndrome in the first workshop of this kind. This took place on November 21, 2024 at the TU Wien, the trainer was Nadja Springer.
